What is the process for obtaining a CCW in California?
While each law enforcement agency has their own process for issuing a CCW, the general process is:
- Apply for a CCW with your local law enforcement agency
- Complete an interview with the law enforcement agency
- Complete a Live Scan / background check
- Complete your initial 16-hour CCW training course
- Submit your training materials to your issuing agency
- Pick up your CCW from your issuing agency
Most law enforcement agencies will have a page on their website detailing their specific CCW application process.
